Traurig, traurig …

Berlin – A pregnant Iraqi woman, two African men and a police officer were injured in separate attacks on foreigners in the city of Magdeburg at the weekend, German police said on Monday.
In one attack in the eastern state of Saxony-Anhalt, the Iraqi woman and her two-year-old child were assaulted in a bus late on Saturday after they were verbally abused.
The 20-year-old woman was travelling in the company of three men and another woman, all Iraqis.
Police arrested two men aged 28 and 30 in connection with the incident. They were released again on Sunday. Police said they were investigating charges of incitement and assault.
In the second incident, which took place in the early hours of Sunday, a group of Africans were attacked. Two men from Niger were hurt, along with a police officer who attempted to detain the assailants, who fled the scene.
There have been repeated assaults on foreigners in the formerly communist eastern states, where unemployment is high and living standards lower than in the west. – Sapa-dpa“
